Sayed Tayeb Hamad, spokesperson for the Nangarhar police, told Salam Watandar that Pakistan closed the gate in response to the Islamic Emirate’s construction of facilities on their side of the so-called “Durand Line.”

Hamad said, “The Pakistani side has requested that we refrain from building any facilities near the so-called border line, but at the same time, we are expected not to respond to the facilities Pakistan is constructing on the other side of the line.”

With the closure of the gate, hundreds of travelers, patients, and freight trucks are currently waiting for the gate to reopen.

Previously, Pakistan has closed various routes along the Durand Line and around the Torkham area for Afghan travelers and freight trucks.
