According to reports, the new government led by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in today.
According to a Reuters report, Mr. Sharif in his new government has appointed Mohammad Aurangzeb, the executive director of the private bank HBL, as the finance minister.
Reuters news agency quoted two sources as saying that Ishaq Dar, who has served four times as Pakistan’s finance minister, has been selected for the post of foreign minister.
According to this report, Aurangzeb is introduced as the finance minister while Pakistan is facing many economic problems.
The IMF aid program to Pakistan will end next month. Mr. Sharif has said that his government will try to negotiate a long-term aid program to address high inflation and external financing needs to keep the country’s economy stable.
