Gaza \u2013 The Ministry of Interior, affiliated with the Palestinian Hamas movement, has issued a warning to a local armed group in Gaza, giving them ten days to surrender to the authorities or face serious consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement released today, Wednesday (July 2), the ministry said that the armed group led by Yasser Abu Shabab, which is not officially recognized by Hamas, is accused of betraying the people and values of Gaza and must submit to the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement read: \u201cThis group is acting against the social interests of Gaza and is attempting to disrupt public security. We give them ten days to surrender.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Yasser Abu Shabab\u2019s group reacted strongly to Hamas\u2019s warning. On their official Facebook page, they responded to the statement saying:
“This is a joke. They cannot intimidate us nor those who love their homeland.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Reuters, citing security sources, Hamas accuses the group of looting humanitarian aid convoys, disrupting local order, and even being linked to Israeli support. Hamas has reportedly assigned special forces with the task of eliminating Yasser Abu Shabab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
