The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment has announced that a delegation led by Seyed Karim Hashemi held a meeting and discussion with the head and members of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as a number of Chinese investors, in the city of Shanghai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, Mr. Hashemi described Shanghai as one of the world\u2019s most important economic and investment hubs, stating that Afghanistan, due to its strategic location in the heart of Asia, can play a significant role in connecting Central Asia and East Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He described China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative as an important opportunity for the development of regional economic cooperation and emphasized that Afghanistan is ready to actively participate in this framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, Afghanistan\u2019s private sector is prepared to cooperate with Chinese investors in the fields of mining, agriculture, industry, transit, logistics, technology, manufacturing, carpets, precious stones, medicinal products, and banking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, the President of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce welcomed the meeting and emphasized the expansion of economic relations and practical cooperation with Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was also attended by a number of deputy heads of provincial chambers and prominent traders of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
