U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is currently \u201cU.S. territory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump posted an image of a map of the region on his social media platform, Truth Social, in which the Strait of Hormuz is marked with a circle and the phrase \u201cnew U.S. territory\u201d appears next to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the second time in the past week that Trump has posted the image; however, this time he did not provide any additional explanation or comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remarks came a day after Trump said at a rally in South Carolina that he \u201ccurrently sees the Strait of Hormuz as an American territory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world\u2019s most important strategic waterways, through which a significant portion of global oil and gas exports passes. It has long played a key role in the region\u2019s political and security developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
