The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says mobile health teams are providing life-saving healthcare services to people in remote areas of Afghanistan, with support from the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.
In a statement, OCHA said these mobile health teams play an important role in delivering life-saving healthcare services to areas where people have limited access to health facilities.
The organization warned that healthcare needs in Afghanistan exceed available resources, with only 37 percent of the required funding for the health sector secured so far.
According to OCHA, out of the $191 million required for the health sector, only $71 million has been secured to date.
OCHA stressed that continued funding shortages could seriously undermine the ability of humanitarian organizations to provide essential healthcare services to millions of Afghans in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
