According to the latest report by Uzbekistan\u2019s National Statistics Committee, trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan reached $1.2 billion during the first seven months of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report ranks Afghanistan as the fifth among the ten countries with which Uzbekistan recorded the highest volume of trade this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In terms of trade volume, China ranked first with $11.3 billion, followed by Russia with $8.1 billion, Kazakhstan with $3.3 billion, and T\u00fcrkiye with $1.6 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Khan Jan Alokozay, an adviser to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, told the BBC that following the suspension of trade with Pakistan, many Afghan traders had turned to Central Asian countries and increased their commercial exchanges with the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said Afghan traders are now importing food products, cooking oil, medicines and other goods from Central Asian countries, while exporting dried and fresh fruits, carpets and meat to these markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alokozay added that trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan is expanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uzbek officials have also recently said that trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan has increased two and a half times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
