As part of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, at 1:00 AM local time, 90 Palestinians were released in exchange for three Israeli women.

The 90 released Palestinians, most of whom were women, were reunited with their families late at night in Ramallah, a city in the West Bank, transported by Red Cross vehicles.

Although hundreds of people gathered to welcome the freed Palestinians and celebrate their release, Israeli forces had issued warnings against holding celebrations.

Among the released Palestinians, 69 were women, and 21 were young men.

It is still unclear how many Palestinians will be released under the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. However, some reports suggest the number could range from 1,000 to nearly 2,000.

In the first phase of the ceasefire, Hamas is set to release a total of 33 Israelis over 42 days, with more releases expected next Saturday.

Since October 7 last year, more than 46,000 Palestinians have been killed, and nearly 90% of Gaza’s population has been forcibly displaced from their homes.
