A meeting between U.S. and Russian officials aimed at ending the war in Ukraine began today (Monday) in Saudi Arabia.
Delegations from both countries are holding closed-door talks to establish a ceasefire in Ukraine. Reuters reports that Washington is seeking to secure a separate ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea before reaching a broader settlement.
A source familiar with the negotiations stated that the U.S. delegation is led by Andrew Peek, Senior Director at the White House National Security Council, and Michael Anton, a senior official at the U.S. State Department. On the Russian side, the delegation is headed by Grigory Karasin, a former diplomat and Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of Russia, along with Sergey Beseda, an advisor to the Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
