Pakistan’s police have returned 50 Afghan children who had “illegally” entered the country through the Khyber region by crossing barriers. It is reported that these children had cut through fences to enter Pakistan in search of work.
Local media, citing an official source, reported that authorities stationed at the Torkham border facilitated the return of these Afghan children to Afghanistan.
Adnan Khan, a local police official, told Dawn News that these children, including 17 girls, were arrested at the Torkham crossing after entering Pakistan by cutting through a fence near the main border crossing.
He stated that most of the children are under 10 years old and none of them possess any legal travel documents.
