Winston Peters, New Zealand’s Foreign Minister, announced on Thursday that the country’s ambassador to the UK had been dismissed following comments that were considered a criticism of Donald Trump, the President of the United States.
Phil Goff, on Tuesday at a meeting in London, compared Trump’s efforts to improve relations with Russia to the actions of Winston Churchill, the British wartime leader who fought against Nazi Germany.
He questioned Trump’s historical knowledge, saying, “Do you think he really understands history?”
