A residential township covering an area of 3,000 jeribs of land has been inaugurated in the Chahar Dara district of Kunduz province. The ceremony was attended by Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Administrative Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office of the Islamic Emirate, and Hamdullah Nomani, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing. The township is intended for 3,741 families.

Mawlawi Ramadan Kalim, Head of Urban Development and Housing in Kunduz province, stated that the distribution of plots in the township for returnees has already begun. Each plot varies in size—5 biswa, 10 biswa, or 15 biswa—and will be allocated to families based on the number of their members.

He added that, in total, 17,400 jeribs of land have been designated for returnees throughout Kunduz province. The reported number of returnees from the central government is approximately 15,375 individuals.

According to him, efforts are ongoing to verify the provided figures.

It is noteworthy that, according to local officials, the process of land distribution and the establishment of residential townships is not limited to Chahar Dara district, and it is planned to continue in other districts of Kunduz province as well.
