Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian authorities have confirmed that at least nine people were killed and more than 70 others were injured in a large-scale Russian attack targeting the capital city, Kyiv.
According to a report by Reuters, Russia launched a missile and drone assault on Kyiv overnight, marking what officials describe as the largest attack on the city so far this year.
Among the victims were six children, officials said, highlighting the severe humanitarian toll of the strike.
Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, stated that various parts of Kyiv were struck during the assault, resulting in the destruction of multiple residential buildings and widespread damage across the city.
In a separate attack the previous day, a drone strike by Russian forces targeted a company transport vehicle in the Ukrainian city of Marhanets, leading to 39 casualties, including both fatalities and injuries.
Ukrainian officials have condemned the attacks as deliberate assaults on civilian infrastructure and have called for increased international support to defend against ongoing aggression.
