Acting Minister of Public Health, Noorjalal Jalali, met with Edwin Sanz Slaughter, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Afghanistan, Mandeep Rati, the head of WHO’s Polio Team in Afghanistan, and other officials from the health sector.

During the meeting, discussions were held on resolving challenges in the health sector, strengthening the healthcare system, and enhancing the capacity of health workers in Afghanistan.

They also discussed efforts to eradicate polio, the provision of equipment for the cancer treatment hospital under construction, support for hospitals treating infectious diseases, and attracting international aid for the health sector.

In a press release, the Ministry of Public Health stated that the WHO’s Afghanistan representative and the head of the Polio Eradication Team assured their continued cooperation in strengthening the health sector, attracting aid, and supporting several other related areas.
