The organization known as “Polio-Free Afghanistan” has announced that a polio vaccination campaign will be launched across Afghanistan.

In a post on X today (Wednesday, May 21), Polio-Free Afghanistan stated that the campaign will begin next Monday, May 27, throughout the country.

The organization has not provided details about how many children under the age of five will receive the polio vaccine during this round of the campaign.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries where polio has not yet been eradicated.

The first case of polio this year was recorded on February 22, 2025, in Badghis province.
