The American media outlet Politico reported on Wednesday (May 29) citing four Voice of America employees, that all remaining staff at the network will receive termination letters during the current week.
According to Politico, with the dismissal of these employees, the operations of Voice of America — after 80 years of broadcasting — will likely come to an end.
The report adds that the network’s human resources department has informed employees to expect termination emails this week.
According to the report, around 800 remaining employees of Voice of America will be laid off in this phase.
This comes after about 600 contract employees at the network were dismissed earlier this month by the Trump administration.
