On Saturday (June 29), former U.S. President Donald Trump strongly criticized the legal proceedings against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it a “political persecution” that, according to him, jeopardizes negotiations with Iran and the militant group Hamas. In a message posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “We will not tolerate this situation,” referencing U.S. financial aid to Israel.

Praising Netanyahu as a “war hero” and a prime minister who has closely cooperated with the United States to counter the “dangerous nuclear threat from Iran,” Trump stated: “He is now negotiating a deal with Hamas, which includes the return of hostages. How can the Prime Minister of Israel be forced to sit in court all day—for nothing?”

He emphasized: “The United States spends billions of dollars annually to support and protect Israel—far more than any other country. We will not stand for this!”
