A Bangladeshi fire department official reported that on Monday (July 20), a Bangladeshi Air Force training aircraft crashed into the campus of a university in Dhaka, the capital, killing 19 people.
The public relations office of the Bangladesh Army also issued a statement saying that the incident occurred in the northern Uttara area of Dhaka.
The F-7 BGI training aircraft of the Bangladeshi Air Force crashed in Uttara. The aircraft had taken off at 01:06. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
According to medical sources, more than 50 people, including several children, were taken to medical centers due to burn injuries caused by the crash.
The local newspaper Prothom Alo reported that initial findings suggest the plane hit the roof of the university’s cafeteria.
