The Hamas movement has rejected the recent remarks made by Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Wietkoff, who claimed that Hamas had expressed willingness to lay down arms during negotiations.

In a statement, Hamas emphasized that armed resistance against occupation is its national and legitimate right, and it will continue until the end of the Zionist occupation. The movement reiterated that this right cannot be ignored until the Palestinian people’s national rights are fulfilled—particularly the right to sovereign independence with Jerusalem as its capital.

Steve Wietkoff had earlier stated during a meeting with the families of Israeli captives in Tel Aviv that Hamas had shown readiness to disarm.
