Roza Otunbayeva, head of UNAMA in Afghanistan, has warned that without international assistance, families affected by the earthquake in Kunar will face severe challenges this coming winter. UNAMA stated on its Facebook page that Otunbayeva praised the courage of the earthquake-affected people in Kunar and emphasized the vital role of women in delivering aid. She urged humanitarian organizations to act quickly to support those affected as winter approaches. According to Otunbayeva, $139 million in aid is being requested to support the earthquake-affected families; without this assistance, they will endure a very difficult winter.
