The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that 42 migrants are missing and presumed dead after a boat sank in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya.
According to local Libyan authorities, there were 49 migrants on board, of whom seven were rescued.
The IOM said the migrants were from Sudan, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Somalia.
The organization added that over 1,000 migrants have died this year in similar shipwrecks in the central Mediterranean.
