Anti-government protests in Iran have spread to the city of Isfahan. Iranian media report that the demonstrations began in response to the unprecedented depreciation of the national currency against the US dollar and the worsening economic situation.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said he has instructed officials to seek a solution to the crisis through dialogue with the protesters. Meanwhile, the head of Iran’s Central Bank has resigned. In some areas, police have used tear gas against demonstrators.
