The Syrian army has launched a large-scale military operation against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Deir Hafer area east of the city of Aleppo.
International media reported today that the Syrian army began the operation yesterday.
Prior to the attacks, the Syrian army had warned that the targeted positions were areas used by Kurdish forces to carry out attacks on the city of Aleppo and its eastern districts.
Mazloum Abdi, the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces, has announced that his forces will withdraw to the east of the Euphrates River. He said the decision was made at the request of mediating countries and in line with a commitment to the March 10 agreement on integrating Kurdish forces into the structure of the Syrian state.
