U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will maintain higher tariffs on imports from eight European countries until the United States secures permission to purchase Greenland. According to reports, starting February 1 of this year, Trump will impose an additional 10% tariff on imports from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, and the United Kingdom. He has described Greenland as vital to U.S. national security and has not ruled out the use of military force. At the same time, Danish and Greenlandic leaders have stated that the island is not for sale, while European countries have shown support for Greenland through a military presence.
