Reuters news agency, citing Indian officials, reported that India has decided to evacuate the families and dependents of its diplomats from Bangladesh due to increased security threats ahead of the country’s general elections. The report states that election campaigning will begin tomorrow, Thursday, and the elections have already sparked widespread protests.
According to Reuters, relations between the two neighboring countries have been strained since violent protests in 2024, during which former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India.
