Mojib-ur-Rahman Omar Akhundzada, Deputy Minister of Water at the Islamic Emirate’s Ministry of Water and Energy, participated in the “Water Week” forum held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Water and Energy wrote on its website on Thursday that in his speech, he highlighted the importance of fair water distribution between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, strengthening water diplomacy, and the use of new technologies in water management.
He also emphasized the need for joint cooperation to address the impacts of climate change.
Omar Akhundzada spoke about preventing the degradation of the Amu River banks and stated that the Islamic Emirate is committed to respecting the water rights of neighboring countries.
Additionally, on the sidelines of the forum, the Deputy Minister met with the Uzbek Minister of Water, where they discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in the water sector.
