Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, emphasized that no talks are taking place between Tehran and Washington, and Iran does not accept any ceasefire with the U.S.
Araghchi told Al Jazeera that Tehran has received messages from the U.S., both directly and through “friends” in the region, but will respond whenever necessary.
He also stated: “No negotiations have taken place, and claims in this regard are not correct. Message exchanges, sometimes including warnings from our side or points raised by the other party, do not constitute negotiations, although this process continues.”
These remarks come amid reports and analyses suggesting the possibility of behind-the-scenes contacts between Iran and the U.S. to reduce regional tensions.
