The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has called for urgent assistance for Afghan refugees who have returned to Afghanistan following the outbreak of conflict in the region.

Mohammad Shafeeq Pawel, the NRC head in the area, stated that since the start of the conflict, approximately 28,000 Afghan refugees have returned to the country. On Tuesday, he wrote on his X page that most of these refugees left behind all their possessions in Iran and returned to Afghanistan empty-handed.

According to Pawel, the returning refugees face severe challenges and are in urgent need of shelter, clean water, food, and other basic services. He emphasized that without immediate assistance, the humanitarian situation for these families will deteriorate further.

The NRC has called on international aid organizations and relevant authorities to act promptly to support these affected Afghan families.
