Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that 22 crew members of the Iranian container ship “MV Tosca,” which was previously seized by the United States, have been transferred to Pakistan.

Tahir Andrabi, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement on his X account that the individuals are scheduled to be handed over to Iranian authorities today (Monday, May 4).

According to the statement, the individuals were transferred to Pakistan last night, and the process of handing them over to Iran is currently underway.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan also added that the ship, after necessary repairs, will be moved to Pakistani territorial waters and later returned to its original owners.

The statement said the move was carried out as a confidence-building measure by the United States and was done in coordination and with the support of both Iranian and American sides.

Pakistan welcomed the development and emphasized that it will continue its efforts to facilitate dialogue, diplomacy, and mediation for regional peace and security.
