The Russian Railways company has announced that Russian and Uzbek experts are conducting technical and economic studies for the Afghan Trans railway project. The aim of the project is to create a major railway corridor through Afghanistan connecting Central and South Asia.
According to reports, this route will start from Termez in Uzbekistan and pass through Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul before extending to Peshawar in Pakistan.
The Ministry of Public Works has also stated that practical work on the technical studies of the project will begin soon. Officials say that with the implementation of this project, Afghanistan’s strategic importance will increase, trade relations will expand, and transportation costs will be reduced.
