Mohsen Rezaei, military advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, has warned the United States that if it continues the blockade of the country’s ports, the Gulf of Oman could turn into a “graveyard” for American forces and warships.
In an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Rezaei described a naval blockade of Iran as a “form of war” and added that Tehran considers responding to it its “natural and legitimate right.”
He said: “My advice to the United States is to withdraw before the Gulf of Oman turns into the graveyard of your ships. Our understanding is that a naval blockade is a form of war, and we consider responding to it our natural right.”
The Iranian Supreme Leader’s military advisor also added that the country’s armed forces are preparing to respond to any U.S. naval blockade.
