Informed sources say the Donald Trump administration is preparing for a new round of military action against Iran, amid rising tensions between Tehran and Washington and ongoing diplomatic consultations.
CBS News reported today that some members of the US military and intelligence agencies have canceled their weekend holiday plans due to the growing possibility of fresh attacks against Iran.
At the same time, US defense and intelligence officials have updated the list of forces on alert at overseas bases.
This comes as some US troops stationed in the Middle East are also being repositioned, a move aimed at reducing the American military presence in the region while preparing for possible retaliatory actions by Iran.
US President Donald Trump also stated in a social media post that he would not be able to attend the wedding ceremony of his son, Donald Trump Jr., due to “government-related matters.”
Anna Kelly, a White House spokesperson, told CBS News: “Trump has made his red lines completely clear; Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon and cannot retain its enriched uranium.”
She added that the US president has kept “all options on the table” to achieve this goal, and that the Pentagon is prepared to implement any potential decision.
