Chinese authorities have announced that the death toll from a gas explosion in a mine in northern China has increased.
International media reported today (Saturday, May 23) that 90 people were killed in the gas explosion at a coal mine in China.
According to reports, nine other people are still missing, while search and rescue operations are ongoing.
The explosion occurred yesterday afternoon at the “Liusheniu” coal mine in China’s “Qinyuan” county, where at least 247 workers were on duty at the time.
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered an investigation into the cause of the explosion and urged officials to intensify efforts to treat and rescue the victims.
