Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has stated that discussions with Iran are still ongoing.
In a telephone interview with American media outlets, Trump emphasized that he has not received any notification from Iran regarding the suspension of talks.
The U.S. President also added that if communications between the two sides were to stop, he would have no problem with that and would be willing to wait for some time. “If you want the truth, I think we’ve talked too much. Silence can be very good, and it may continue for a long time.”
Trump further stressed that a halt in negotiations would not mean the start of U.S. military action against Iran. However, he stated that the blockade of Iran’s ports would continue.
Earlier, the Iranian news agency Tasnim News Agency reported that Tehran had suspended indirect talks with the United States following Israel’s order for its forces to advance further into Lebanon.
