India’s representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, has called in a Security Council meeting for a review of the international community’s approach toward Afghanistan and a reduction in punitive policies. He stated that there is now a need for a policy that benefits the Afghan people, rather than further isolating the country.

He also expressed India’s support for the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and condemned Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory. Harish voiced concern over civilian casualties, stating that the killing of civilians cannot be considered counter-terrorism.
