At least eight people have been killed and 34 others injured in the latest Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

According to Al Jazeera, Russia targeted parts of Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Military Administration, said the attacks occurred overnight and early on Thursday, hitting several areas of the city.

The strikes came just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky cut short his visit to Ireland. Citing intelligence about a “large-scale Russian attack,” he urged citizens to take air raid warnings seriously and move to shelters.
