Ukrainian officials have announced that Russia launched missile and drone attacks on parts of Kyiv, the country’s capital, early this morning.
According to Reuters, at least seven people were killed and 24 others were injured in the attacks. Several residential buildings and other urban infrastructure were also damaged or destroyed.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that search and rescue operations are still underway to pull residents from beneath the rubble and evacuate people trapped inside damaged buildings.
Before the attacks began, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned citizens about an imminent Russian strike.
