The Hana Human Rights Organization, in a new report, says that Afghan refugees in Iran—particularly women and children—face widespread challenges in registering marriages, births, divorces, and other civil documents, as well as in accessing courts and legal assistance.
The organization warned that recent clashes have led to tighter security measures, internet shutdowns, disruptions to public services, and increased administrative pressure, further limiting many Afghan refugees’ access to justice, public services, and fundamental rights.
Hana called on the Iranian authorities to simplify the process of registering civil documents for Afghan refugees, provide effective protection for the rights of women and children, and refrain from measures that prevent refugees from accessing judicial and administrative institutions.
