U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the ceasefire with Iran has ended and described further negotiations with Tehran as “a waste of time.”
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said, “In my opinion, the ceasefire is over.”
He added that he no longer wishes to maintain contact with Iranian officials, saying that continued talks with them would only waste time.
Trump also stated that he would discuss the matter with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, but stressed that the decision to return to the negotiating table rests with Tehran.
His remarks came after Iran and the United States accused each other of violating the ceasefire, with both sides carrying out retaliatory strikes.
