France has decided to permanently close its consulate in Karachi, Pakistan. French officials said the decision was made as part of efforts to reduce diplomatic expenses and reorganize France’s global diplomatic strategy.
The French Consul General in Karachi stated during the celebration of France’s National Day that budget constraints were the main reason behind the decision. However, some analysts believe that other political and strategic factors may also be behind the move.
The decision comes after the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar had earlier announced the end of its operations.
