The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in its latest report that 57 civilians have been killed and 342 others injured in parts of Afghanistan as a result of Pakistani military strikes between April 1 and June 30.
According to the report, the casualties include six women and 31 children. UNAMA added that the highest number of civilian casualties was recorded on June 28, following Pakistani airstrikes in the provinces of Paktika, Kunar, and Paktia.
The report also stated that on June 8, explosions from unidentified explosive devices near areas along the Durand Line resulted in 13 more civilians being killed or injured.
Based on the report, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the Pakistani military regime’s strikes as a violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and rejected Islamabad’s claims that the attacks targeted militants as baseless.
The ministry called on the international community to condemn Pakistan’s “aggressive actions.”
