The United Nations has condemned the killing of civilians in Gaza and called for the protection of healthcare facilities and improved access to medical assistance across the territory.

Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said that more than 150 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza during July, marking the highest monthly death toll since the beginning of this year. He also expressed concern over an attack on a medical supplies warehouse near Al-Aqsa Hospital, stressing that healthcare facilities must never be targeted.

Haq further warned of severe shortages of essential medicines, including insulin and heart medications, adding that additional shipments of medical supplies are still awaiting Israeli approval to enter Gaza.
