Massive wildfires around the city of Spokane in the U.S. state of Washington have destroyed more than 700 buildings and forced approximately 64,000 residents to evacuate their homes. According to reports, the fires broke out on Saturday and continue to spread.
The wildfires have already burned more than 8,000 acres of land north of Spokane. Officials say aerial surveys indicate that nearly 400 additional structures may also have been damaged.
No official casualties have been reported so far, but search and rescue teams are assessing the affected areas to determine whether there have been any fatalities or injuries. The cause of the fires remains unknown, and nearly 1,100 firefighters are currently battling the blaze.
