At least seven people have been killed and nearly 3,500 others displaced after heavy rainfall triggered floods and landslides across Sri Lanka.
According to reports, five people died in landslides, while two others lost their lives in flooding. Authorities said the floods have damaged 129 homes, forcing many families to evacuate to safer areas.
The report added that, due to persistent heavy rainfall, the Sri Lankan government has closed all schools in the country’s central highland regions until further notice. Meanwhile, the army and navy are conducting rescue operations in the flood-affected areas.
