The United Nations has announced that the amount of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip increased by 33 percent in July. However, restrictions on the entry of certain items remain in place.
International media outlets reported today, citing a UN official, that despite the increase in aid deliveries, humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip remain widespread.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations, said that the amount of aid delivered to Gaza by the UN and its partners in July increased by 33 percent compared with June.
He said that around 60 percent of the aid consisted of food supplies, followed by items related to shelter, water, sanitation, hygiene, and healthcare.
Despite the increase in aid deliveries, the United Nations says restrictions on the types of items allowed to enter Gaza remain in place.
