Khan Jan Alokozay, head of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, says the Torkham border crossing remains closed to travel and trade, dismissing reports that it has been reopened.
Alokozay said private-sector representatives and some politicians on the other side of the Durand Line are trying to reopen the crossing, but their efforts have so far produced no results.
He added that Afghanistan’s private sector also wants trade routes with Pakistan to reopen, while supporting the Islamic Emirate’s position on Torkham and other crossings.
