Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has said that Iran has experienced Washington’s approach of imposing economic sanctions before, and he believes the latest sanctions will also fail.

In a post on the social media platform X, Araghchi said Tehran has previously experienced various periods of U.S. economic pressure, adding that, in his words, only the people applying the pressure have changed.

Referring to previous U.S. sanctions against Iran, he said so-called “crippling sanctions,” the “maximum pressure” policy and other forms of economic pressure by Washington had failed to achieve their objectives, and that the latest U.S. economic campaign is also destined to fail.

His remarks came after the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to intensify economic pressure on Iran and warned that countries providing economic assistance to Iran could also face economic consequences.

Tehran has repeatedly rejected U.S. sanctions, saying that a policy of pressure and sanctions cannot force Iran to accept Washington’s demands.
