U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is currently “U.S. territory.”

Trump posted an image of a map of the region on his social media platform, Truth Social, in which the Strait of Hormuz is marked with a circle and the phrase “new U.S. territory” appears next to it.

This is the second time in the past week that Trump has posted the image; however, this time he did not provide any additional explanation or comment.

The remarks came a day after Trump said at a rally in South Carolina that he “currently sees the Strait of Hormuz as an American territory.”

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important strategic waterways, through which a significant portion of global oil and gas exports passes. It has long played a key role in the region’s political and security developments.
