Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in New Delhi, the capital of India, on Saturday to attend the BRICS summit and meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This is Xi Jinping’s first visit to India in seven years. The visit comes as the two neighboring Asian countries cautiously seek to improve their relations, which were severely strained following a military confrontation in 2020 along their disputed Himalayan border.
Twenty Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers were killed in the confrontation.
