King Abdullah II of Jordan has firmly stated that he is opposed to U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to settle Palestinians in Jordan.
In a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, King Abdullah wrote that he raised this issue during his meeting with Donald Trump yesterday. “This is the common position of the Arab world; the reconstruction of Gaza, without settling Palestinians and simultaneously addressing the severe humanitarian situation there, should now be a priority for everyone.”
King Abdullah also emphasized that in his meeting with the U.S. president, he stressed the importance of efforts to reduce tensions in the West Bank and prevent the worsening of the situation there.
According to King Abdullah II, achieving a just peace based on the two-state solution is the only path to stability in the region.
However, during his meeting with the Jordanian king, President Trump reiterated his position on controlling and taking ownership of the Gaza Strip and asked Jordan to accept Palestinians within its territory.
